Student housing, office premises and retail space in Central Pasila, Helsinki.

Hoas Huippu is a development under construction in Central Pasila, Helsinki, combining student housing, office premises, and retail space. The block comprises three 14–17-storey tower buildings and three 7-storey slab buildings.

The project will be completed in phases during 2026 and will provide a home for around 400 students. In addition to apartments, the project will house Hoas’s headquarters and retail premises. The architectural design was carried out by Arkkitehtuuritoimisto B&M Oy, and the structural and acoustic design by A-Insinöörit. Hartela is the main contractor.

Peikko’s delivery to the project included 88 DELTABEAM® Green beams (nearly 600 running metres), PETRA® slab supports, WELDA® plates, HPM® bolts, and other special parts.

Peikko’s project manager on the project was Pia Rantanen:
“The first deliveries already went out in January 2024 and the latest in April 2025. The project progressed in phases, and deliveries were distributed between different buildings and floors as needed. The project has proceeded as planned and on schedule, which reflects successful cooperation across the entire project team.”

Structural solutions and design

A-Insinöörit’s Sallamari Hietanen served as the model coordinator for the project’s structural design and was also responsible for precast element design and coordination. According to her, the role of Peikko’s modern modelling and design tools is particularly significant.

“DELTABEAM® beams and other products fit the model extremely well and greatly facilitated coordination. The design process had a clear and functional division of modelling responsibilities, and Peikko’s beam model could be seamlessly integrated into the structural model. Combined with Peikko’s proactive approach, this shortened design lead times and strengthened the quality of execution.”

Hietanen also praises the suitability of Peikko’s solutions for technically demanding areas:
“The spacious office premises and parking halls located on the lower floors posed challenges due to their long spans. For this, Peikko’s DELTABEAM® Green beams were the best solution, as they enabled the implementation of open, spacious areas.”

Deliveries and on-site work

Hartela’s site manager Tomasz Viio was responsible for coordinating the structural frame phase in a block where several frames were rising simultaneously.

“Several buildings were delivered at the same time—at one point, up to five sites were running in parallel. In such a situation, proactive planning of the work, on-time deliveries, and smooth communication are key to success.”

Viio says he is pleased with the way Peikko manages timely deliveries to the site:
“Deliveries were split by floor, and both large and small orders were handled precisely. Peikko’s products are straightforward to install, so they could be put in place on time. In addition, Peikko’s own proactive approach and easily reachable contact persons are a major advantage.”

The site also made use of Peikko’s COLIFT column lifting device, for which a Peikko representative provided on-site training. The practical guidance improved occupational safety, and the interactive approach during the training session also added value.

“It was great that the installers could ask questions and test the use in a real situation. It improved not only safety but also the smoothness of the work,” Viio says.
