The M-Plaza is being realized as a Net Zero timber construction, which means that the building does not produce any CO₂ emissions over its life cycle. This is achieved by using state-of-the-art sustainable technologies and materials.
The M-Plaza is being built in the heart of Thalkirchen, Munich, and comprises 10 full floors as well as a roof terrace floor, which will allow users to take a break with breathtaking views. The building has a gross floor area of 41,000 m², providing plenty of space for innovation and creativity. The highly efficient standard floor extends over 4,500 m² and can be divided into up to five rental units with areas ranging from 360 m² to 794 m². Construction began in 2023 and completion is scheduled for 2025.
The construction consists of hybrid timber-concrete slabs in combination with DELTABEAM® Composite Beams from Peikko. The composite effect between concrete and steel in DELTABEAM® enables large spans with an 8.1 m column grid. With a room height of over 3 m, the M-Plaza offers flexible and spacious rooms that meet a wide range of requirements.
The project is a prime example of sustainability. It is powered by photovoltaic systems and geothermal energy and meets the highest environmental standards. It is certified to LEED Platinum, WiredScore and Efficiency House 40, underlining the building's outstanding energy efficiency and sustainability.
Peikko is proud to supply a wide range of products for the M-Plaza. In addition to DELTABEAM®, this includes bolted connections for precast concrete elements, ATLANT® Composite Columns, BESISTA® Tension and Compression Rod Systems, punching reinforcement and many other solutions.
When asked what was most important for the developer (FidCap Group Munich) in this project, he replied: "1. speed, 2. speed, 3. speed." The particularly simple and fast installation of Peikko products was therefore one of the essential advantages that convinced the project participants.
